A meeting between AFEX and the Katsina State Government:
*Katsina State Partners with AFEX to Boost Agricultural Investments and Productivity*
Katsina, Nigeria – In a move to accelerate agricultural transformation in the state, the Katsina State Government has collaborated with leading Nigerian agribusiness company AFEX to establish several strategic initiatives.
The partnership was finalized during a high-level meeting between AFEX executives led by Mr Ayodeji Balogun, the Group Chief Executive and the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda PhD CON, along with the Governor’s Economic Adviser, Khalil Nur Khalil, and the Director General of the Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency, Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur Jikamshi.
As part of the agreement, AFEX will:
1. Set up a sesame processing plant at the Katsina State Green Economic Zone along the Jibia Road. This will help add value to the state’s sesame production and boost exports.
2. Establish a seed multiplication center at the Songhai Farm in Funtua. This will improve access to high-quality seeds for local farmers, increasing agricultural productivity.
3. Expand its farmer outgrower program in the state, providing training, inputs, and market linkages to smallholder producers.
4. Introduce a commodity exchange platform in Katsina, enhancing price transparency and market access for farmers.
Governor Radda expressed his satisfaction with AFEX’s commitment to agricultural development in the state. “We are pleased to partner with a reputable company like AFEX, which has a proven track record of driving agricultural transformation in Nigeria,” he said. “This collaboration aligns with our vision to make Katsina an investor-friendly destination and create opportunities for economic growth.”
The governor has requested AFEX to immediately submit their requirements for the approved projects, signaling the state’s readiness to facilitate a smooth implementation process.
Furthermore, Governor Radda used the occasion to invite other investors, both local and international, to explore the investment-friendly environment in Katsina State. “Katsina is open for business, and we welcome all interested parties to come and be a part of our agricultural revolution,” he stated.
This partnership with AFEX is expected to significantly boost agricultural productivity, create jobs, and enhance food security in Katsina State, ultimately contributing to the state’s economic development.

In a landmark move aimed at modernizing land administration and unlocking investment potential, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD (CON), officially commissioned the Katsina State Geographic Information System (KATGIS) as part of the activities marking his first year in office. Upon assuming office, Governor Radda sponsored the bill for the establishment of KATGIS, recognizing the need to revolutionize land administration and facilitate substantial investment in the real estate sector. The primary objective of the bill is to create a cutting-edge land information system. With the official commissioning, Governor Radda declared the state-of-the-art facility open, equipped with modern technology designed to enhance effective operations. This marks a milestone in Katsina State’s journey towards sustainable development and efficient resource management. Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Radda emphasized the far-reaching implications of this groundbreaking initiative on land administration within the state. He reiterated his commitment to this vision by appointing a young expert, Dr. Mansur Adamu, to lead KATGIS. This strategic move reflects the Governor’s confidence in the younger generation and his dedication to nurturing homegrown talent and fostering a culture of innovation within the state.
